Loose Diamond Stones
Synthetic Loose Diamonds
Synthetic diamonds, lab-created diamonds, manufactured diamonds, lab-grown diamonds and cultured diamonds are all terms used to describe diamonds produced using a technological processes such as, HPHT (High Pressure, High Temperature) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD).
Synthetic diamonds are less expensive to make and are not the same as diamond-like carbon, or otherwise known as DLC, which is amorphous hard carbon, or diamond simulants, which are made of cubic zirconia or silicon carbide materials.
The properties of synthetic diamonds depend on the process used by the manufacturer to produce it, and can in some cases be inferior, similar or superior to those
of natural diamond.
Because it can be made for less than it costs to mine and process natural diamond, synthetic diamond is used in many industrial applications. Reduced costs and the ability to engineer its physical and electrical properties give synthetic diamond the potential to become a disruptive technology in many areas, such as electronics and medicine.
